Just Killed the GURU
Well you have gone and done it. The Guru is now, PAY AS YOU GO.
Interesting that Guild Wars, the MAJOR online MMORPG that has no Service Fees now has a Forum that has user fees.
Oh and the Kicker? You have to pay 4.99 to get on the thread that HAS the suggestions to post in it!!
So not only are they MANDATING that we give up our money to use this GURU but they do not want to hear our feedback.
Since I can post where but here, or face a ban, the community is left with 3 viable options.
1) Limited Postings.. Remember that it is the MEMBERS that provide the advice and NOT THE MODERATORS.
2) Pay the fees. We can pay their fees and hope that the rest of the community does the same.
3) Leave the community and PROTEST on the GW.com web site for FAN SITES that this service be advertised there as a PAY SITE on not a FREE Site.
Well, it looks like I might be done with Guild Wars Guru What about you?
Anyone want to bet this thread is deleted?

Feel free to protest. Bottom line is we either start making some money or close down.
I'm not happy about it. In fact, I've been fighting this since it was brought up and I've thought about relinquishing my duties on both forums. I'll continue to advocate a different system both as a moderator on this site and as an administrator on gw2g.

If you have an issue with the development of this website, please take it up via PM with me, not on the public forum. Discussion between site staff shouldn't be subject to public scrutiny.
You're not a bad mod, Kattar, but your socialist ideals for running an online community just don't work.

Look JR, normally I'm the first one to jump on people for doing crap like this, but this time it's different. It's one thing to handle some users differently than others just because you're friends with them. I get that, some people are subject to a different set of rules. But taking the forum in a completely new direction, especially against the protest of some of the rest of the staff (not to mention a fellow admin) cannot be allowed to happen without something being said.
I thought you had some more respect for me as a staff member and as a person, but I guess I was wrong. I'll continue to spread what I have to say, whether I have to do so through the use of alternate accounts or not. I know all the tricks, so why engage in a futile battle in trying to stop me?
As my signature says...

Be careful how far you go with this little moral crusade, Kattar. Talking about using alt accounts is verging on territory that will get you banned, let alone removed from staff. I'll forgive it this once, given the circumstance.
As for the rest of your post: Simply, your opinion means jack. This is not your community. You don't appreciate the need to have a steady revenue stream, that's fine, stay in your little happy world and ignore the harsh realities.
As for respecting you, that went out of the window when you couldn't stop your personal views from interfering in your work. Pathetic.

Frankly, I'm shocked that this account is still active, given all the goings on between us the last few weeks. I can only assume you're letting me twist in the wind before my access is finally removed. That's fine - I've come to expect that kind of behavior from you.
It's not your community either. I got to where I am because of this community, not my exploits in game. I've always had the needs of this community in the forefront of my mind. That's why I volunteered to work here in the first place.
You and I both know there are other ways to make money for this site. Hell, we discussed this. But, by your own admission, my opinion doesn't matter anyway. Yours is the only one that has ever mattered.
The irony of you accusing me of letting my personal views influence my decisions...priceless. The list of banned users (not to mention current and former staff) would disagree. I have no doubt this post will add my name to that list. If you have any moral fiber left, you'll at least leave this conversation for the rest of the forum to see. Honor that last request if my work here has meant anything.

Other ways to make money? HAHAHA. Your ideas were *ridiculous*. A GuildWarsGuru bake sale? What kind of utter garbage is that.

My personal views might interfere with my work, sure, but I also happen to be right. Whatever, you've made your position clear, you're out of here. I'll leave this conversation as a record, and an example to other staff members.
Go cry about it on IRC.

I, for one, am 100% behind this new business plan and the banning of Kattar. He has always been a bad influence to this site and its members.
Good job, JR.
